How can we help?

FAQ

Planning & Budgeting

How can we budget for new uniforms?

DeMoulin understands that uniform purchases are often
planned across multiple budget cycles. In many cases, payment options can be
structured to align with fiscal year planning, allowing costs to be distributed
across more than one budget year (for example, FY 26–27 and FY 27–28).

This approach can help programs manage approval processes,
align with district budgeting timelines, and make larger purchases more
manageable within annual funding constraints.

How much do custom uniforms cost?

We recommend ordering approximately 20-30% more uniforms
than your current performing membership.

This allows for future program growth, membership
fluctuations, and changes in student body sizing over time.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We offer three payment options:

A. Purchase Order for the full amount

B. One-third deposit by check, with the remaining balance due prior to
shipment

C. Payment in full by check at order entry to receive a 3% discount

When is payment due?

If the school district is purchasing through a purchase order, the purchase order must be provided at the time the order is placed.
Payment is not due until the uniforms have been completed and delivered to the
school. Unless otherwise agreed upon in writing, all invoices are due Net 30,
with payment required within 30 days of the invoice date.

Are there any discounts available?

DeMoulin offers a 3% discount when the
entire invoice is paid upfront by check or electronic funds transfer (EFT).

DeMoulin also offers quantity-based discounts for qualifying orders. Please contact your Regional Sales Manager to discuss the available quantity break levels and determine the pricing structure that best fits your program's needs.

Can booster organizations help pay for the uniforms?

Yes. Booster organizations can play an important role in
supporting uniform purchases, and several flexible options are available
depending on district requirements and payment structure.

In many cases, boosters can contribute funds directly to the
school or district, allowing the district to issue a single purchase order for
the full uniform order amount.

If boosters prefer to manage payment independently, they may
also place the order directly by providing a one-third deposit, with the
remaining balance due prior to shipment.

These options allow schools and booster organizations to
coordinate effectively and tailor the payment approach to best fit their
fundraising and budgeting processes.

What are purchasing cooperatives and does DeMoulin participate?

A purchasing cooperative is an organization that competitively bids contracts on behalf of schools and public agencies. This allows districts to purchase approved products and services without completing
a separate bidding process.

Programs that participate in cooperatives such as BuyBoard
can often streamline approval and purchasing while still meeting local
procurement requirements and maintaining compliance with district or state guidelines.

DeMoulin participates in several purchasing cooperatives.
Please contact your Regional Sales Manager for additional information and a
list of participating cooperatives.

Design, Products & Process

How many uniforms should I order beyond my current band size?

We recommend ordering approximately 20-30% more uniforms than your current performing membership.

This allows for future program growth, membership fluctuations, and changes in student body sizing over time.

Why are custom bibbers more expensive than in-stock bibbers?

In-stock bibbers are produced in bulk and maintained in inventory for immediate purchase.

Custom bibbers are made specifically for your program using your band’s sizing data, providing a more precise fit and a fully coordinated uniform system.

Can you make bibbers with elastic gussets?

Yes, we can. However, we do not typically recommend elastic gussets for programs expecting uniforms to last 10 years or more.

Over time, elastic components can lose shape and reduce overall performance and fit consistency.

What fabrics are available?

We offer a range of fabric options to meet different performance needs, aesthetics, and durability requirements, including:

  • 11.5 oz 100% Polyester (Performin)
  • 14.5 oz 100% Synthetic (Rejuvitex)
  • 14.5 oz Poly/Wool Blend
  • 15.5 oz 100% Wool

Each fabric offers a different balance of weight, appearance, comfort, and long-term durability, allowing programs to select the
option that best fits their performance and budget needs.

What construction options do you offer?

We offer three primary construction levels:

  • Lightweight – Lightweight and economical
  • Midweight – A balance of durability, comfort, and value
  • Traditional – Maximum structure and longest-lasting performance option

Each option is designed to support different budgets,
performance needs, and longevity expectations.

Can you match what we already have?

Yes. In many cases, we request a physical sample to ensure the closest possible match to your existing uniforms.

This helps us accurately replicate color, fabric, trim, and construction details, minimizing any variation between existing and new garments.

How long does it take to receive a sample?

If all details are finalized, samples are typically completed within 3–4 weeks.

What does the process look like?

We guide you through every step of the process—from initial design and sampling through sizing, production, and final delivery.

At each stage, we provide clear updates and an estimated timeline, so you always know where your order stands and what comes next.

How long does the custom uniform process take?

For best results, we recommend beginning the process at
least 9 months before uniforms are needed.

A typical timeline includes:

  • Custom Designed Sketches: 1–2 weeks
  • Sample production: 3–4 weeks
  • Revisions and approvals
  • Sizing and order submission
  • Production: approximately 180–210 days

In total, most programs should plan for approximately 9
months from initial conversation to final delivery.

Uniform Management & Long-Term Support

How do we manage uniforms once they arrive?

Every DeMoulin uniform purchase includes access to MyDeMoulin, our Uniform Management Program, at no additional cost.

This exclusive system helps programs:

  • Automatically assign uniforms
  • Manage student sizing records
  • Download rosters 24/7
  • Track parent contact information
  • Create uniform rental agreements
  • Manage multiple inventories, including marching uniforms, concert attire, and raincoats

MyDeMoulin helps ensure students receive the best possible fit year after year while reducing administrative workload and simplifying uniform management for directors and staff.

What do the numbers on my uniform labels mean?

Uniform sizing follows a standardized system that identifies both fit and length to ensure the best possible fit for each student.

For coat sizes, the number represents the chest measurement, and the letter represents the length.
For example, a 38R indicates a 38-inch chest with a “Regular” length.

For bibbers, the sizing includes waist, length, and seat/hip measurements.
The first number is the waist size, the letter indicates length, and the number in parentheses represents the seat/hip measurement.
For example, a 32R (38) indicates a 32-inch waist, “Regular” length, and a 38-inch seat/hip measurement.

This system helps ensure consistent, accurate sizing across your entire uniform ensemble.

What happens if we need additional uniforms later?

Additional uniforms can be ordered at any time in the future, providing programs with flexibility to adjust for changes in enrollment or the addition of new members.

Because all uniforms are custom-made to match the original design, it is important to plan ahead whenever possible. Current production timelines average approximately 150–210 days, so early communication helps ensure on-time delivery for performances and seasonal needs.

Please note that smaller-quantity reorder items will typically have a higher per-unit cost than the original order, due to reduced quantity discount tiers that apply to larger production runs.
