Dan McDonald

Biography

Dan McDonald brings a wealth of experience from his extensive career as a band director and music educator. Prior to joining DeMoulin, Dan served as Assistant Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at Northwestern State University, where he helped lead the 300-member “Spirit of Northwestern” Marching Band, “Purple Haze” Basketball Band, Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, and Magale Concert Band. He also taught courses in music education, student leadership, and conducting.

A seasoned music educator and conductor, Dan holds both Bachelors and Master’s degrees from the University of Connecticut. Before his graduate work, he taught in Ashford, CT, and served as Director of Instrumental Music at The Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, CT.

Dan has conducted and directed ensembles that have performed internationally and at prestigious events, including the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles Conference (Buñol, Spain), CBDNA Southern Division Conference, Chunghwa Clarion Shanghai Spring International Wind Music Festival (China), multiple FBS bowl games, and both the NCAA Men’s and Women's Basketball Championships. He serves on the national Athletic Bands Committee and was chair of the Louisiana chapter of College Band Directors National Association. Dan’s professional affiliations have included World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, College Band Directors National Association, National Band Association, National Association for Music Education, Phi Beta Mu, Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, College Music Society, and the New England Music Festival Association.

In his role at DeMoulin, Dan leverages his rich background in directing bands and education to connect with customers and ensure they receive the highest quality products tailored to their needs.
