Congratulations to all of the DCI corps who competed in last week's finals program in Bloomington, Indiana. DeMoulin was there to support the drum corps and to join with the US ARMY and MENC in recognition of the All American band program. DeMoulin is excited to announce the addition of Doug Neal to our Sales Team!
Joining the DeMoulin team in July 2008, Doug Neal is a former Educational Representative and Percussion Specialist for Don Wilson Music in Lexington, Kentucky. He has both conducted and served as host of numerous band and percussion clinics across the bluegrass state with some of the finest clinicians in the country. Doug has long been associated with 18-time KMEA State Champion and 2-time BOA Class A National Champion Adair County High School Marching Band as Percussion Caption Head. As Director of East Eighty Indoor Percussion, Doug led his group to a WGI Independent A bronze medal in 2006, and the Independent Open Class Finals in 2007. He is a current member of the Percussive Arts Society and Kentucky Music Educators Association. Doug was local host and marching coordinator for the Percussive Arts Society International Convention held in Louisville in November 2003. Doug will be serving schools in Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Southern Indiana and Southwestern Ohio for DeMoulin.

Impulse to take the court at NBA Western Conference Finals
Now you have an additional reason to watch the San Antonio Spurs take on the Los Angeles Lakers in the first game of the NBA Western Conference Finals this Wednesday, May 21. That’s because Impulse Drum & Bugle Corps will trade the football field for the basketball court when members perform as part of the halftime entertainment for the nationally televised game.
The defending NBA champion Spurs will be hosted by the Lakers at the Los Angeles Staples Center for game one of the best-of-seven playoff series on Wednesday. Drum corps fans can glue themselves to television screens for the game on the TNT network (6 p.m. PT, 9 p.m. ET) in hopes of catching Impulse in the act of demonstrating the excitement of drum corps for a nationwide viewing audience.
This performance is a highlight of the corps’ 10th anniversary season, building on an increased demand for the organization to provide entertainment at corporate functions and local sports events. Impulse also serves as the official drum corps for the Palm Springs Power, a semi-pro baseball team, and is scheduled to perform at several of the team’s events this summer.
“We are extremely excited to perform at our first national sporting event. I imagine it will be a hype performing in front of 19,000 screaming sports fans,” said Impulse snare drummer Chris Rogers.

Ballou, a documentary film, follows the talented Washington, DC, Ballou Senior High School Marching Band, as they overcome a negative environment filled with guns, drugs and violence to overcome and uplift the community with music, dedication and personal sacrifice. Ballou High School is in Washington DC. They are on the way to a national band competition, but first they have to learn how to play instruments and overcome personal loses due to the United States governmental neglect of an impoverished community just 3 miles away from the US Capitol building. Political leaders and celebrities are featured in the film to show the importance of a small marching band that overcomes the negative environment and neglect to become an award winning band. As the North Hardin Wind Symphony continued to receive invitations to perform, I began to investigate the purchasing of formal attire. Like many band programs, my students were wearing marching uniforms on the concert stage. It was then that I called our DeMoulin representative and was surprised to learn that DeMoulin also carried tuxes and formal dresses. I placed my first order and the rest is history. I have found the tuxes and formal dresses to be of superior quality at an equally fair price. Each year I re-order enough to fit the needs of our current program.
